In the north of Poland there is a post-glacial area of the Suwałki National Park which resembles a bit of a mountain. Wavy and uneven terrain, fabulous, crystal water in the lakes and erratic boulders enchant tourists, who sometimes got lost in the wild regions of Suwałki. The highest peak among the hills in the Suwałki National Park - it looks like the cone of the volcano Mount Cisowa, which someone called Suwałki Fujairama - is 256 m a.s.l. It is inferior in terms of height to Góra Zamkowa, from which you can admire the Jadźwingów defensive strongholds.
In the area of the park is Lake Hańcza which is the deepest in Poland. Explorers on the banks of this reservoir can see the ruins of the mansion in Stara Hańcza, located in a feral park. According to legend, Napoleon's army, retreating before the Russian army, sank the treasure in Lake Hańcza. Nearby are Smolniki in which the film "Pan Tadeusz" was shot, according to the book of the same title. The originality of the Suwałki National Park is the Bachanowo boulder, on a meadow of several hectares lies thousands of boulders that the glacier passed through a thousand years ago. Worth recommending are religious monuments: built of wood in Jeleniewo with Rococo furnishings and a beautiful temple of Old Believers in Wodzki.
The beauty of the Suwałki Landscape Park can be astonishing during a car ride, but cycling trips are more interesting. We can go on more charming corners by single-track.
